if you wanna play movies via DS413j's plex app on a Windows/Mac/Linux PC there's no problem Browsing the movies from a Samsung SmartTV is a nightmare, even if movies are played without issues (but that's thanks to the TV, not to the Plex app, since Plex for ARM cpus (ds423j has an ARM cpu) does not support transconding at all.ĭue to the transconding issues, playing stuff on iPhone or iPad via Plex app won't work either. Browsing the movies via plexweb is as slow as hell, creating the metadata for the files is slower than hell.
I buyed it myself one month ago, installed the plex app and configured it but the result, compared to the media server run from Windows is, well, quite bad. If you need transcoding, DS413J is not the right choice. I really like the look of DSM, and it's within my budget, I'm just not sure if I need it to do any transcoding. If I will be connecting 2 PCs to the PSM, will there be any transcoding done? What about my WDTV Live connected via wireless?
